Wallerant Vaillant was painter at the Frisian court of Willem Friso, Prince of Orange. He is however most well known for his mezzotint prints, a technique he helped develop. Pieter Blaue was the son of carthographer and publisher Joan Blaeu. As connoisseur and collector, he was the art agent for the Grand-Dukes De Medici.
